The history of the GESTUS Theater
The idea of Gestus Theatre was first conceived in 2016 by a group of independent actors who established Gestus as a non-governmental organization, realizing a series of events and projects in the fields of art and theater.
In 2023, Ilona Gospodinova and Konstantina Samardzhieva, seeking fulfillment and growth in the art of puppetry, also established ‘GESTUS’ Theater – a small private theatrical group focused exclusively on creating performances for children, engaging primarily in the realm of puppet theater. The main mission of the team is to create traveling shows, encompassing both street theater and stage performances. These shows are designed to reach smaller settlements where access to culture for children and adolescents is limited. The theater aims to experiment with various theatrical forms and to support young artists in the fields of art and theater, including playwrights, scenographers, artists, musicians, and others.
